Georgia Music Production and Festivals

The musical heritage of Georgia is rich and diverse. From the Rhythm Section to the B-52s, the state has produced a diverse group of award-winning artists. In addition to being home to some of the top pop and R&B artists, the state has produced numerous country and gospel heavyweights. These artists are renowned for their diverse musical styles and strive to produce songs that move their listeners.

There are many annual festivals dedicated to different genres of music. The Glyndebourne Festival was established in 1934. The Edinburgh International Festival of Music and Drama was established in 1947, and the Cheltenham Festival was first held in 1945. Today, there are several festivals in different cities across the country that focus on modern and contemporary music.

Rock and roll began as a genre in the 1920s, but has since evolved into a variety of genres. The instruments used in rock and roll bands typically include bass and electric guitars, drums, and lead vocalists. Songs from this genre are energetic, fast-paced, and explosive. Some of the first rock and roll bands were from Los Angeles, which made them famous throughout the country. Punk rock became popular during the 1970s, with popular groups like the Germs, X, and Black Flag establishing a legacy in Los Angeles.

Today, there are more than eight hundred music festivals in the U.S., some of which focus on one genre, while others are interdisciplinary. The largest festival is Summerfest, which lasts 11 days in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and attracts 800,000 to one million attendees every year. The festival features hundreds of performers from various genres.
