Streaming platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music and Tidal are changing the way music is consumed. They have introduced new ways of working with artists and fans. They are also driving a multi-billion dollar industry in the United States.
These platforms are allowing independent artists to bypass labels and sell their music directly to fans. Streaming revenues have grown to multiple billions of dollars in just 10 years. The success of these platforms has led to a decline in physical music sales.
According to The Guardian, a study of consumer listening habits has revealed a shift in how people listen to music. The most popular genres are pop and hip hop. The two occupy the top spots on the Billboard Hot 100. In addition, the music genres are gaining popularity among younger audiences.
These streaming services use machine learning to analyze the user’s listening habits. They are also able to provide curated playlists and branded content. These personalised playlists have helped boost streaming numbers for many artists. The LOOP report found that playlists account for 31% of all music streams.
The streaming service RapCaviar’s weekly playlist has over 11.7 million followers. The rapper has recently turned to Instagram to announce his latest album.
Another artist that has LA roots is Tyga. He has played festivals across the US.
