Music Production Facts – Music Markets and Genres

The music business is an enormous industry and the North American economy is no exception. Music festivals alone generated over $183 million in ticket sales in 2014, not including sponsorships, merchandise sales, and food and beverage sales. In April 2016, Coachella Music Festival alone generated over $704 million, generating tens of millions of dollars for the local economy. But it’s not just music festivals that are becoming increasingly popular. Record companies are also investing heavily in the growth of music festivals and expanding their role in the industry.

Australia is one of the largest music markets in the world, with over $350 million in recorded music sales. Almost 20% of the population is involved in some form of music production and consumption. The digital radio service triple j Unearthed is the home of over 40 000 musicians and attracts over 3.5 million unique listeners. However, there’s no doubt that the music industry is experiencing a period of disruption. As the demand for music continues to grow, more musicians and music lovers are turning to new and exciting ways to distribute music.

Georgia is also a musical hub. A diverse musical culture has produced award-winning musicians such as the Atlanta Rhythm Section and the B-52s. Georgia has also produced a renowned list of country music artists, such as Luke Bryan and Jason Aldean.
